so I am trying to make a setup to run a dc motor bidirectionally and I guess I might have wired something wrong. I drew up a rough sketch of my wiring and will try to get a good picture of my actual wiring in the morning. the issue I am having is that when i am making the power switch something on the motor driver board is pulling my supplied power to ground through the 5v regulator. how can I fix this?
The way you’re doing your switches is likely causing trouble.
What you need are some SPDT switches with the outer legs connected to 5 volt and ground. Something like the picture below should get you going.
