I have received a quotation for a 4-Layer PCB which appears to be too high. They have suggested that it’s mostly because i used filled vias.
I’ve googled around and I can’t find what the differences are between a filled via and standard via. What are the implications of using standard vias vs filled vias ?
I used eagle to do the layout and can’t find the option to change what type of via is.
The difference between normal via’s and filled ones is that filled via’s are just that - plugged with a material. (usually electrically/thermally conductive)
Filled/plugged via’s are commonly used under surface mount ICs as a way to draw heat to the other side of a PCB for easier thermal management.
