EAGLE 5.x Mix and Match?

I’m currently using EAGLE 5.1.0 Standard edition, I have

all three modules (Schematic, Layout, Autorouter).

I need to start a new project with a large PCB, bigger

than the ‘standard’ size limits, and approx 250x100mm.

Can I just buy the Professional edition layout module

and use it with the standard Schematic module?

I don’t need the autorouter at all.

Standard = 160x100mm 4 layers.

Professional = 1600x1600mm 16 layers.

Too bad they don’t offer a mid-range. Say, 800x800mm 4 layer…

That’s a good question.

Their phone number is on their front page ([http://www.cadsoftusa.com/), and when I called them I got to speak with a real person right away, so you’d probably get a quick and accurate answer that way.](http://www.cadsoftusa.com/)

Good point! I've spoken to Ed Robelo (their engineer

and aps guy - now their USA general manager)

a few times over the years. I’ll report back what\

I find out on Monday.

The last time I spoke with them, they claimed you had to buy licenses at the same level to interoperate. And I think they even said you had to buy them at the same time, you couldn’t start with the pro layout module and later add on the pro schematic module. Probably something to do with the live back-annotation.

But it’s always worth asking again, this was years ago.

I’m slightly suspicious of a vendor that won’t publish upgrade pricing on their website, when the rest is so clearly spelt out. Seems like they might be milking certain users.

Maybe not, though. I might be being cynical.
