I just started doing PCB design with Eagle. I followed the Beginning Embedded Electronics tutorials, but ran into a problem in “Lecture 10 - Eagle: Creating a new part.” In the tutorial, in Eagle’s package editor, when an SMD pad is placed, the name is displayed over it. I cannot get the name to display, no matter what I try (I can change it, but not display it). All layers are on, and I tried changing tName to obnoxious green, but it still doesn’t show up. Anyone know why this is? I’m using Eagle 5.6.0 for Linux on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy). Thanks.
