Eagle having issues with my ground and power planes

I generally use Free Router to route my boards because they are usually simple i draw them in eagle route and re-import it normally works fine.

How ever Eagle is simply pitching a fit on the Ground plane on my new board. it wont connect any of the other GNDs to it. for what ever reason.

I import the board into free router router it export it and when i import it eagle destroys it…!!!

Much ANGER…

I can’t find a polygon (exept outline) around the outside perimeter of the board.

Make one on the correct layer and name it “GND”.

ignore the board file that is included open it and run the mini.src file that will import the board that has been router from FreeRouter. its 100% finished but eagle mangles it.

I see what you mean about the EAGLE script converting the ground plane into air wires but this can be solved by the post above.

May i ask why you are “working around” EAGLE?

Because the Eagle auto Router is freaking terrible. its almost as bad as me hand routing stuff.

Free router is actually pretty damn good.

Lots of people like to slam the Eagle autorouter, but if you take the time to set it up properly and understand how it works you will find that it can do a very good job and is also extremely flexible.

got an optimized CTL file you would like to share?

Where’s the fun in using the auto-router? Manually routing the board actually produces better results than the auto-router, IMHO, and it’s more fulfilling when you actually finish it!
