I’ve bought an Atmel At90USB Key and right now I am trying to do some PCB’s to get from the headers on that board (2x5, 1.27 mm pitch) to regular 2.54 mm pitch headers.
The problem I have is that after I draw the package in Eagle (version 5.4.0) and assign it to the device, the sizes change when I import that package into the board drawing. Initially I used for the holes 0.04 inch diameter with 0.029 inch hole size.
The grid size was the same when working with the package and the board. Do you have any clue on what I did wrong? I am a little puzzled, as this is not the first package drawn with Eagle and until now everything was great.
Below are screenshots of the the board, respectively the package.
You need to adjust the design rules on the board to allow for smaller annular rings. I don’t remember the name of the option off hand, but its on a tab with “Min” “%” “Max” columns - you want to adjust the minimum.
Thank you for the answer. To get to this option I used the menu Edit → Design Rules in board editing mode and played with the settings. The funny thing is that after this, when trying to place the header again, Eagle hit me with an error window:
‘The Light edition of Eagle can’t perform the requested action!’
You are right. I was trying to draw a board without schematics, so I didn’t have anything by default in the Dimension layer. Everything’s all right now; the files are ready for the fab house.
There is one thing that still puzzles me: in the library editor, when I create the device, I still have it with the huge pads. Any idea what should I modify to get it right there, too?
I didn’t find anything in the Library Editor to allow me to change these settings.
