I received my GPS Evaluation Board and 20 Channel EM406A Sirf III Receiver with Antenna today and I have to say they’re sensational. Plugged them in, powered them up and bang, 9 satellites in view indoors!!!
However, I’m running the SiRFDemo 3.87 software via Parallels and XP on my Mac. But can anyone tell me if there’s any native Mac software (of any sort) that would work with the 406/Sirf III?
The closest I can find are the fully featured GPS programs, which would be fine but most software requires a ‘complete’ Magellan or Garmin GPS receiver for it to work. I already have MacGPS Pro but that can’t “see” the 406 for some reason.
I’ve also looked at software such as Roadnav, which is great if you’re in the U.S. Anywhere, out of the U.S. and you won’t have maps. But it too has problems communicating with the 406.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
