Emergency board and assembly needed

Hi all,

Due to having to switch equipment in last minute I have had to design a USB interface board. Problem is that I need to have a populated board in about a week for testing and is it’s success full, I need 50 units in about 4 weeks.

It’s a small board (1.4"x1.8") with mostly SMT parts, main part is a Atmel at90USB162, so I need to have at least the SMT part populated for the prototype board.

Anyone with suggestions where I can find quick turnaround service (including shipping and all assembly) for this?

Please let me know as I seem to have no luck finding someone who can do this.

Mikael

You’ll be spending a week just setting up an account with a board assembly house, why not make the first one yourself? You can use APCCircuits to get the board quick, overnight the parts from Digikey, and pick up a soldering iron.

For small run assembled prototypes, I could recommend places like Virtex Assembly in Austin, Tx, but they won’t be cheap. We are running an assembled SMT double sided 5x5 PCB with around 250 parts, cost including boards, assembly, and parts is running us around $30k for 100 pieces.

Talk to Eric at Seeedstudio, he runs a proto service and I’ve been really happy with the quality. He MIGHT be able to do one quickturn PCB, a week is stretching it, two weeks seems very possible. 50 in 4 weeks? I don’t think that’s a problem at all.

PCBTrain’s 24 hour service is very good:

We’ve been very happy with [Screaming Circuits. They offer from 1-day to 10-day turn service and you can get a quote online. They do kit assembly or turn-key.

If you have the project organized well, we are able to turn around that fast if needed.

We would need to know more about the board being built.

You can contact us at:

You can choose another service if you want.

Do you order PCB's using carrier pigeons??

If you email GoldPhoenix you have have your order looked over by Shane and pay for it within 12hours. If you pay extra you could even have the boards in under 4 days…

GP just runs PCB's, right? They aren't an assembly house. He's saying, get the PCB's made and assemble yourself.

Gold Phoenix actually do [PCB assembly…](http://www.goldphoenixpcb.biz/pcbass.php)

Ah. Would they be able to do that with 4 days turn around? Including parts gathering, that seems pretty fast.

Well, anyway, let us know how it all goes whatever you decide to do.

I use them regularly as well. I’ve been very pleased with their service.](http://www.screamingcircuits.com/)

Thanks for all the answers!!

As it turns out, one of our sale guys in the office (I’m normally not there as I’m full time assigned at a clients location) used to do sales for soldering and related equipment in an earlier life, and put me in contact with some of his former clients locally.

So far it seem like this is going to be on time.

Mikaelo,

I realize it’s been 6 weeks since you’ve posted, and your issue is probably resolved by now. However, I can hook you up with the right people in SF Bay Area, if you have similar emergencies in the future.
