ERROR: Timed out waiting for Arduino 101 on COM4

Hi,

I’m having problems uploading a sketch to the SparkFun Qwiic RedBoard. I have installed the driver for CH340 and when I go to Device Manager>Ports, I see it pop up when I plug in the board. I went to Board Manager and installed the Intel Curie 101 board. I’ve tried the latest version 2.0.4 and version 1.0.7. I have also tried pressing the Reset button during upload, and I’ve rebooted my computer. I’ve also tried 3 different USB cables. Still get the same error message. I am running Windows 10 on an HP Z840. I previously have purchased the original RedBoard and had no problems uploading to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why and how are you using the Intel Curie 101 board?

Hi,

I am using the SparkFun Qwiic Redboard. In Arduino IDE it did not show up in my list of boards, so I installed the Intel Curie 101, believing that is the correct board. If not, how do I find and install the Arduino/Genuino board? Thanks.

That is not the right board definition. The RedBoards are able to programmed with a regular Arduino UNO board definition. We do offer a “RedBoard” board definition but it’s the same as the UNO. Please refer to the hookup guide for how to use the RedBoard Qwiic: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/re … okup-guide.

Thanks for your reply. I did read the entire hook up guide for the Qwicc board and it specifically states to use Arduino/ Genuino Uno board. See screenshot. I have tried Arduino Uno board definition with programmer AVRISP mkll and AVR ISP and I get the error message below. Is there a different programmer that should be used?

the selected serial port

does not exist or your board is not connected

I have order a non Qwiic version of the board to try and may send back this Qwiic board. Any help would be appreciated.

Cordially,
