Error: unable to open ftdi device: unable to claim usb devic

Hi all,

I’m getting the following error when I run the command openocd -f interface/olimex-arm-usb_ocd.cfg -f target/lpc2138.cfg

"Error: unable to open ftdi device: unable to claim usb device. Make sure ftdi_sio is unloaded!

Command Handler execution failed".

Can someone please tell me what this message means?

Hello,

Do you have the up to date ftdi drivers installed? Also check the FTDI chip on board for jumpers. What board are you using?

Yes, I believe I have the most up-to-date drivers installed. Is there any way I can confirm? I’m using the lpc2138 controller, however its an inhouse board not an evaluation board.
