Exterior uplighting

I am VERY NEW to leds/electronics so be nice… I want to create uplighting on the backside of a tree with a 12V lithium-ion battery. After reading some of the tutorials I am starting to think that I’ll need more power to have any lighting impact in the tree branches. The tree is not near 120V power. I don’t want to run extension cords that far. And, the lithium-ion battery is rechargeable and compact. Turning the light(s) on and off via a switch is no problem and white is good for this “first” try.

It should be obvious that I am open for any and all suggestions.

Thank you for your help,

Dave

Do you have any images to illustrate what you’re trying to achieve?

To clarify, are you wanting to power 120V lights with a 12V Li-ion battery? It’s possible but you’ll need a DC-AC converter that can accomplish this. You’ll also need to check the Amps used by the lights and the rated Amp-hour (Ah or mAh) for the Li-ion battery. When you know your operating conditions then you can choose a converter.

When weight and/or a compact size aren’t important, consider using a sealed lead acid battery (SLA). For this kind of application, you’ll want to use a deep cycle SLA.
