FLORIDA PERMANENT REFERENCE NETWORK (FPRN) is a free service that’s currently being overhauled. I’m extremely impressed with the options for users and I wanted to brag on what these folks have accomplished.
A NTRIP user can select their reference frame via Port #, and then select from standard observation formats via the mountpoints.
They have included the NEW National Spatial Reference System, NSRS 2022 ![]()
I think this is the future, and how NTRIP Casters should be organized and operated.
Examples that come to mind:
- For new work, I’d likely use NSRS 2022.
- If I needed to tie to existing NGS control today, NAD83 2011 is/was the standard (but changing to NSRS)
- For quick points to dump into Google Maps/Earth to share with clients, use the WGS84 port.
- For projects that have (or will have) Point Perfect users, use the ITRF port for alignment across all field technicians.
By saving those 4 profiles in our NTRIP Client, switching reference frames based on the desired output is a click away.
Cheers to Florida ![]()
