FG085 - Maximum output current of this Frequency Generator Kit

I’m looking for the Maximum output current that I can draw on the on the BNC output. I’m hoping to use a sine wave signal to power a voicecoil haptic device. The SparkFun documentation states that the FG085 can be used as an adjustable voltage source, but there is no information on the maximum output current (only on the power adapters input current). I’ve noticed that others have used it to power speakers and other things, but there is nor information on maximum output current in any forum or even on the manufacturers website.

Unfortunately it looks like the manufacturer doesn’t provide that info, but our version comes with a 1A power supply and the device says it consumes ~150mA…so maybe around 800mA? Just a guess

It’s not going to be very much, maybe 50mA. You will need some sort of amplifier to boost the output, a small audio amp should work.

Per the schematic at http://cdn.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Tool … c_085G.pdf the BNC is driven by an LM6172. The datasheet for the opamp https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm6172.pdf states 50mA output, so TS-Chris is right. You will need an amp such as https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11044
