Finding a 3D Model for My IoT Project

Hello everyone

I am a student at the AP University in Belgium and I am currently working on an IoT project to measure the water quality of a river. For these measurements we have chosen to use Vernier sensors and hence we came to use a Vernier Arduino shield.
We know the shield is branded as Vernier and its mainly sold at Vernier, but we discovered it is partnered with SparkFun. So, I was curious if you have a 3D model (preferably .step) available so I can add it to my kicad. The reason I ask you this instead of Vernier is because the shield is mentioned in your GitHub repo of models. But the only given file is an eagleup.json which, when I open it, does not find the required 3D models of the pcb components. Thus this results in a flat pcb as step model.

So if possible, could anyone supply me an 3D step file or complete Eagle project (then I can export the step file myself) of this shield? The shield has two versions, here are the SKU numbers: DEV-12858 and DEV-11897. Either version is fine since it’s to display the final product.

Many thanks in advance for reading this!

Kind regards
BVD

Does sparkfun sell Vernier Arduino shield anymore?

They don’t seem to sell it on their site anymore, but its still included with the git repository (only the eagleup.json though) and it’s still sold on the Vernier site. That one still seems to be partnered with SparkFun for as far as I can find.

You can use the eagle files here Vernier_Interface_Shield/Hardware at V_H1.2_L1.0.1 · sparkfun/Vernier_Interface_Shield · GitHub and export STEP

This sadly does not work for me. Like I said in the first post I just get a flat pcb as result as displayed in the image.

I tried and got the same export…you might try contacting Vernier and see if they happen to have one, or take measurements and edit the flat one :-/

I will most certainly try to contact Vernier about it, but the last time my team contacted them we didnt really get anything usefull from them hence i asked it here. Still, a lot of thanks for the time you guys gave me to help solve my problem.

I managed to get an awnser from Vernier but, they don’t have such a model available. So if there is a possible other solution, it would be most certainly welcome.

I would just get the product in-hand, measure the relevant areas & modify that flat file

That is probably the best solution then I guess. For now I’ll keep the flat one untill I have the actual product. Thanks for all the help though
