Flat cable connection on RTK Faucet

Hi,

My RTK Faucet did not respond during the setting mode. I searched and tried to follow the suggestions to take the battery cable off and reconnect.
Unfortunately, during that process one of the flat cables on the RTK Faucet came out of the connector. I tried to put it back but was not able to and the latch is damaged. Here is the picture of the board: Picture

I was wondering if there is a way to get it fixed. Can I do it by myself, is there any place I can take it locally and get help or is there a place to send it for repair. Please advise

Thank you.

I didn’t find an order history for your account; we have a 12-month warranty on these, although I’m unsure if this would be covered… @sparky might be able to offer some insight. We can definitely repair it for you either way

When and where did you purchase it from?

If you can determine the part# for the clamping socket you could perhaps find a phone or console repair store that could desolder and replace the connector.

I bought it from Amazon on December 25, 2024. Receipt

I tried to search parts on internet, couldn’t find the exact match. I just used general google search and asked chat gpt. I did not know other good resources for these electronic parts to search. It would be great if you could help me if you know resources to look for these parts.

Thank you.

Hi Sassan (@Sassan_Aflaki ),

It is a 12-way 0.5mm pitch FFC (Flexible Circuit) connector - dual contact (top and bottom). The generic part number is FFC2B28-12-G.

I hope this helps,
Paul

Thank you @PaulZC. I just ordered. It will be delivered in a couple of days.
Can you please help me find a good place to have it installed? I am in Potomac MD, and my office is in Washington DC.

Thank you.

Hi @TS-Russell,

Thank you for your response. I bought it from Amazon on December 25, 2024. Receipt

I don’t have any specific recommendations, Google is your friend.

Perhaps somewhere like uBreakiFix, CPR Cell Phone Repair or where they do console repair, for things like HDMI connectors, etc.

Not a specific recommendation, merely a suggestion, for the sort of place capable/equipped to deal with header removal/replacement.

And obviously an RMA / Repair via SparkFun directly, especially if there is something more functionally wrong or damage beyond just the header.

@Sassan_Aflaki You got some good pointers from other folks. I too encourage you to start an RMA here. Replacing that connector is not easy, and there’s been at least one pad ripped off the board. It may require a board swap. If you can return it to us, we can evaluate it and get you a quote for repair.
