Flex PCB manufacturer with online quotes

Hey I’m wondering if anyone can point me to manufacturers of Flex PCBs with any sort of online quotation system. Comments regarding suppliers and relative costs would also be appreciated.

I don’t think there are any. It’s a very specialised area and the design, substrate manufacture and assembly have to be dealt with together. It’s very expensive for small quantities.

So, does that mean that there is no cost-effective way for doing “poor man’s” flex? Could be fun to experiment with.

You could try the Homebrew PCB Yahoo group to see if anyone has managed to make them at home.

Try Altaflex (http://altaflex.com/) in SJC. The owners name is Robert Jung and he is agood friend of mine. They specialize in proto / small production FPC runs.

So what’s the final word on flex PCB? And Flex PCB quantities for the hobbyist, that is 10 units or less.

I’ve found several posts in this forum where people recommend some companies. Though it’s difficult from the posts to decipher whether or not the advice comes from a company trying to generate advertisement, or from a genuine satisfied customer.

Have a service like batchPCB for flex would be great (that is, cheap low quantity with nice user interface).

Gold Phoenix (the same PCB place that BatchPCB uses) offers a flex PCB proto service (it’s $260 for 75 square inches though):
