Found Problem with Arduino Pro Mini - 3.3V/8MHz

Hi… I ran across a strange problem with the Arduino Pro Mini - 3.3V/8MHz. I accidently dropped the board while powered up and collecting data and what I found was that the Arduino Pro Mini reset or loss power due to the shock of the fall. I did some further testing and found as the amount of shock(force/G’s) against the Arduino Pro Mini went up it reset or loss power at a certain amount of shock every time. I tried diff. Arduino Pro Mini - 3.3V/8MHz (I have 3 of them) and all failed about the same due to a certain level of shock against them.

Anyone else see this type of problem. Is there anything you can do other than redesign the board to protect against the shock/G force it may receive?

Thanks

How have you made your connections to the boards?

I tried a couple diff. ways, I just soldered directly to a pin and I also tried using pin header then solder to that.

The shock might be enough to press the reset button. If you really want to find the cause, try desoldering and removing it temporarily, if it does not reset anymore, it’s the reset button.
