I’m hoping to get an explanation of the 12.2K Ohm resistor assemblies on both power terminals. Why are these part of the design?

Do you mean the 2.2k and 10k resistors ? It appears they are making a voltage divider to reduce the voltage sent to an external monitor. The cap adds a low pass filter.
