GM862 does not find service

A friend and I both bought GM862 eval kits. We both have an array of different carrier SIMs at our disposal, and cannot get the GM862 to find any service. Signal shows up as nothing, it remains unregistered, and COPS hangs:

AT+CSQ

+CSQ: 99,99

OK

AT+CREG

+CREG: 0,2

OK

AT+COPS=?

(hangs)

We are operating this device in two different locations, both are using the v2 eval kit with OEM module, as well as the supplied pigtail and multiband antenna.

I have tried AT&T blue, tmobile and cingular, and he has tried these three carriers along with some other more obscure sims. No luck on any one of them.

Any suggestions?

Have you changed the band to north america?

AT#BND=1

Is this unit shutting down? (Status LED should go out)

It looks like we had our boards on euro mode. I am now seeing what i should:
