A lot depends on the board size, volume, and quantity. In the past, I have used Gold Phoenix, PCBCart, and PCBGeek, and all have made good quality boards.

Yeah,
I need more than just PCB fabrication, and I don’t think those guys do all that.
I need then to get the parts, build the PCB, and assemble the board all under the same price quote.
There plentry of companies saying they do that, and I ve tried a couple, but the quality is not good. I end up doing a bunch of rework because they flipped some chips, and now pin #1 is on Pin #25, all the way to having a electrolitic capacitor put down with the wrong polarity, which blow up as soon as I apply power to the board.
So anyway I was hoping someone had experience with a good contract manufacturer they can recommend.
BTW, my board is 5x3", mostly SMD, parts on only one side.
Thanks
Thanks
We’ve been using Gold Phoenix for PCB assembly recently and it has been good so far. We have a small (Approx 2"x2") board with about 30 components, all SMT. We had them make 50 pieces as a trial, and they even made 5 first and sent them to us for approval before making the other 45.
It’s not turnkey as they don’t order the components, but it’s not that bad to sit down and order everything from Digikey.
Then you ship them everything, pay some broker fee and import taxes for your components (which is annoying but it all works out to being very cheap), and they make your boards.
Our order of 50 took just 3 weeks total and every board worked 100%. They even e-mailed me asking about the polarity of a SMT LED that isn’t clear. I took a high res picture and photoshopped a big red arrow to show which way it went and emailed that to them. They got it and it worked out fine.
We recently gave them an order for 200 more boards and will likely have them start making our more expensive PCBAs now.
Here was the complete cost report I made after the 50 pc order:
Initial Quote
otmic-1d
2layers, 0.062’‘, FR4, 1oz, HAL, two side silk, 2"x1.87’', panel size 10.5"X10" 25pcs/panel 2panels , USD145
PCB 50pcs USd145
PCB Assembly: Stencil USD200, assembly 50pcs USD350, shipping USD50
PCB need 7days, assembly 2 weeks
Additional Fees
Customs fee: $95
Additional Shipping cost: $25
Cost Breakdown
Total Cost: $745+$25+$95= $865
Cost Per board including PCB and stencil: $865/50= $17.30 per board
Raw PCB Cost: $145/50 = $2.90 per board QTY 50
Assembly cost: $350 assy + $75 shipping + $95 broker fee = $520/50 = $10.4 per board assembled not including one time stencil fee.
Cost per board including PCB and Assembly, but not Stencil: $10.4+$2.9 = $13.30 per board.
You can see that not including components, the total cost per board was $17.30 including the stencil. Ordering again, we wouldn’t need to pay for the stencil, so the total cost not including components would be just $13.30 including PCBs, shipping, assembly, and taxes.
It was pretty awesome.
