Goop that hardens to lock a trimpot in place?

I have a device that when being installed the trim-pots for some reason look like irresistible toys to my end users - and I need something that will deter them from messing with the settings.

I use to see the stuff all the time inside RC receivers for toys.

  • Does it have a name?

  • Where can I buy it?

  • Most importantly, can I make up something like it at home and save money?

Thanks!

I’m not certain what specific goop you are referring to that you’ve seen, but either hot glue or silicon sealant would be somewhat of a deterrent but still be able to be pealed/cut off if the trimpot was needed.

Maybe Locktite or nail polish.

Its potting compound you need, should be able to pick it up from farnell, RS, digikey etc.

Nail polish works great, easy to find, cheap.

Might be embarrassing to buy

hot glue gun?

or you put a digital pot into the design to begin with…

Or hell, an entire PC. What ever was I thinking!!!
