I am using this evaluation board with the san jose FV-M8 (EB-85a) GPS receiver. I have downloaded the USB drivers so that my computer (windows XP OS) recognises the board but upon using the minigps software there is a COM port setting error and the GPS locator software does nothing as well. I hope that someone has had the same plight as me and can provide useful advice on what i should do.
You must choose the correct COM port first. To view the COM-port that is used on your computer go to Control Panel ->System->Hardware->Device control(dunno exactly what it is called in English). Then click on the plus-sign before “Ports(COM&LPT)” and look whats in brackets behind a device called “USB Serial Converter”. You should select that COM-port in your GPS program.
No COM port error now ty but cant get a fix inside or outside and the status LED does nothing. I have two GPS modules and have tested both. Could the board be faulty or could it be something else? Oh, I have used all the different ports and settings and changed computers and still nothing.
I got the same as delta85 has. There is no possibility to send it back to the USA however. I live in the netherlands, and I need to have it working in 2 weeks. It worked for some time, but I need it working on an arduino board, and it is not very ideal if the gps is sporadically working.
