GPS-15136 - Powering board via +5V on board AND usb cable connected is possible?

GPS-15136 can be powered via +5V on usb cable, or via +5V on board edge pin strip, or via +3V3 on board edge pin strip

But is possible to power board via +5V board edge strip pin AND connecting a usb cable (with +5V inside) for pc communication ?

The 2 distinct power lines not interfere with each other ?

Hi amorosik,

While it is possible, I would not recommend powering the GPS-RTK2 Board from 5V with a USB connection. There is no protection on that circuit to prevent “backflow” of voltage to your USB port and unless you have a very accurate 5V power supply, you risk damaging the USB port on the computer. There might be a USB-C cable that has that type of voltage protection built in for a similar use case so you may want to look into that. Otherwise, you could also try finding a data-only USB-C cable or the other option would be to add in a protection diode between the USB-C connector and your computer on the VUSB line.

I’m interested in this too. Were you able to locate a data only cable for USB-C?
