GPS-RTK2 Hookup Guide for a newbie

Hi,

I’m looking to improve my collection of GPS points to make maps using GIS. I’m very experienced at GIS and collecting GPS via my phone but I need greater accuracy to log individual trees (30 cm would be good enough). I’m looking to purchase the SparkFun GPS-RTK-SMA Kit to get started. Do I need bluetooth or would a connection with the USB be sufficient to a laptop? To a mobile device? If I need or if bluetooth is recommended, which device should I get. The GPS-RTK2 Hookup Guide is suggesting the SparkFun Bluetooth Mate Silver which is a retired product. So what bluetooth device is recommended? The SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM (USB-C) looks possible, may be overkill, but has a lot of other functions that could come in handy with other projects. Thanks

You’ve understood everything correctly so far; you can use it with usb and a laptop or find a way to get the data out over BT or wifi (Mate is retired, the Thing Plus C is a good alternative bc it has tons of features)…or take a look at our more feature-rich surveying products https://www.sparkfun.com/search/results … b=products, like the https://www.sparkfun.com/products/18443 which has an ESP32 on-board

But you can just use USB on the F9P too

Great. Thank you very much for the informative reply. I have some nice choices.
