GR-10 & GPS Chip Scale Antenna

Hi guys. I am building a small GPS reciever with the GR-10 and i want to use the Chip Scale Antenna from SparkFun.

When making the Antenna Part should i have some sort of a amplifier on the antenna or just connect it directly using the info from the Datasheet?

Any help would be REALLY appriciated.

Also should i design the Antenna Cercuit as for a passive antenna or as an Active One?

It will need a low noise amplifier with a good gain (at least 25 to 30dB). If you power the LNA separately I think it should be ok to design the circuit similar to how you would with a passive.

tnx. i really appriciate the help

I am very interested in using this combination for a keyring scale gps logger. I have experience with AVR micros and intend to link the gps to a small avr, maybe mega8.

I would be interested in any progress made with this combination of gps and antannea and any references that would help in the successful pcb layout of the gps and antannea, and any required amplification.
