Small GPS Kit

I am trying to get all the parts I need to put together a small gps kit. If I dont use one of the mini mod kits and put it together myself, is this all I need?

Do I need anything else like a low-noise amplifier?

dont know much but you’ll certainly need a regualtor (atleast 150mA recommended) and uart to Rs232 converter or FTDI chip etc. Plus all the passive that go with these. Do decouple the GPS well and keep the antenna as close as possible assuming you are doing the PCB yourself
