Ground layer.

Sparkfuners, Hello.

So I’ve been working on project for the past few months now, and last time i had a problem, I posted it on here and got the answer. So here goes again:

When laying out my PCB on Eagle, I’ve set up both a ground layer and a supply layer so i have:

----------------Top Signal

----------------Ground

----------------Supply

----------------Bottom Signal

I started by just setting up a 2 layer PCB, but due to some sensitive analog to digital switching I’m doing it was necessary to add the extra planes to cut down the noise.

Now the problem is, How do i set connections to the ground layer? when it autoroutes it sends some of the connections to the layer but it dose this by using vias(and in regards to the ground layers the Eagle website says “This layer does not work with Pads and Vias”)

So how do i set connections to this layer?

Thanks,

Charles.

You must name the polygon with the same net as you use ground in your circuit.

Type in name in the command thing in eagle, click on the polygon again, and type in the net you use as ground (VSS, GND, 0V) in the pop up.
