I’m a newbie to SFE- not a newbie to making PCBs- I’ve got plenty under my belt- I’m just hoping to get a single board (with solder mask and silkscreen) for a bit cheaper than what pcbexpress will do for me. Unfortunately, I’ve got an old version of Eagle- 3.55, and I’ve run into 2 problems (so far)- I can’t run the .ulp that moves everything on the silk screen layer to minimum 8 mil, and a more fundamental problem is that the 3.55 EAGLE.DEF doesn’t appear to support putting the drill rack file into the drill file. I’d like to avoid hand editing the file if possible. The board I have is 2 layers, but it is too big to fit in the Eagle 4.XX freeware restriction (about 3" x 5").
Here’s a simple request- I’ll send you my Eagle 3.55 .sch and .brd file- you run your working .ulp and .cam scripts on it, and email the results (gerbers and drill file) back to me. I’ll do the checking and so forth with SFE’s tools and a gerber viewer to see if everything looks good. If it doesn’t work the first time, I’ll just give up and go to one of the more expensive board houses- I don’t want to spend too much of your time or mine on this.
What’s in it for you? If you’re ever in Austin, TX- I’ll buy you a cold frosty beverage of your choice, and give you a first hand demo of the board I’m trying to build (part of a data-acq system for a high hp car).
