Help with using relay quick connect lugs

Hi,

I didn’t really find a “hardware” section in the forums, so I am posting here.

I am stumped as to how to use the quick connect lugs on the T9A relay sold on sparkfun: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc … cts_id=101

It has one pin labelled COM and one pin labeled NO. I am assuming COM is the pin that we turn high to activate the relay and NO is the output pin. But where do I stick the input as a quick connect (I see that there is an input AC voltage pin at the bottom)? Are the bottom pins the only ones that can be used for input?

Thanks,

Aditya

The switch (contacts) of the relay are COM (common) and NO (normally open). They are open until the coil is energized. Some relays also have NC (normally closed) contacts; in that case, COM is connected to NC when the coil is off and to NO when it is on.

The coil is connected to the two smaller pins on the bottom.

Thanks a lot for the reply. This was of great help! =)
