How to Connect a 6V DC Vacuum Pump to an Arduino Mega Board

Hello Arduino World,

We are working on a project that requires us to connect a vacuum pump of the 6V DC variety to an Arduino Mega board. If anyone has any insight on which pins to connect the wires to, we would appreciate your help.

You will need a motor controller and a motor power supply to handle power on/off (and speed control, if desired). That will depend in turn on how many amperes the pump requires to start up, so tell us what that is, or provide a link to the motor data sheet or product page. Just about any pin on an Arduino can be used to steer the controller.
