OK I’m new at this. I installed Eagle, all the sparkfun liberies and told Eagle to “use” them.
How do I search for sparkfun parts? What do I search for to get this part, JST Right-Angle Connector - Through-Hole 2-Pin
PRT-09749.
Searching JST gets some other part and searching for PRT-09749 finds nothing. I have to be missing something basic. :?
I poked around and probably found the part but nothing is telling me it s the right part. Its probably M02JST-2-PTH. TH meaning through hole? :?
When you get into the parts inventory, there is a search bar at the bottom. Now, this is where the advise comes in. The search doesn’t like for you to enter the whole part name or number. So use a shortened version. Like, JST Right* Notice the asterisk. That is a wild card search. You can also use it in the beginning of the search term. ie, *angle… Once you use Eagle more and more, you will start to find out where all the common parts are.
I just can’t figure out how to get Eagle to save the lists that I mark “DO not use…”

OK I typed JST Right* in the search bar and got nothing, no hits at all.
If I go to the part I think it is. There is nothing from the product page to link it to the Eagle part description.
Header 2 Standard 2-pin 0.1" header. Use with straight break away headers (SKU : PRT-00116), right angle break away headers (PRT-00553), swiss pins (PRT-00743), machine pins (PRT-00117), and female headers (PRT-00115). Molex polarized connector foot print use with SKU : PRT-08233 with associated crimp pins and housings.
Package: JST-2-PTH
Again, I think I’m missing something basic.
Then don’t use as many letters… jst, jst*, jst etc…
Eagle has a library named pinhead. Look through there for header items. If you need 2 pin connector, then use the 2 pin selection in the library. There are a couple of different choices for package types that go on the PCB board itself. I don’t know the exact names of them but, one has long pads(doesn’t make a difference, user preference), standard round holes/pads, and “lock” pads. If you look at the lock padded package, you will see there offset, basically when you put your part in the hole, it locks them in place so you can solder.
I believe the right angled header, if you look at the packages, one will have an outline of a pin header. They are for angled headers. The outline is to tell you when you assemble the PCB, what angle to mount the pins.
