How to replace 8-pin female header

Hi there,

I have a SparkFun inventor’s kit and my RedBoard (Arduino Uno)'s 8-pin female header (for pins 0-7) broke off recently. I can buy female headers online, but I am unsure as to how to insert them onto the RedBoard. Can anyone explain to me how to do this repair ?

You just need to de-solder the leftover solder on the area to be repaired (see videos online for de-soldering techniques) to clean/prepare the pads…

Then solder the new header in-place. Be sure to order “SMD” style headers (not PTH version) :slight_smile:
