I can't control a Roomba with a Rootooth.

Hi all,

I want to control a Roomba wirelessly, so I bought a Rootooth.

At first, I was able to control my Roomba with the Rootooth.

But a week ago, it stopped working abruptly.

I tried two things.

I bought another Rootooth.

But I can’t control my Roomba with this.

Because the Rootooth is new, it is difficult to conclude that these Rootooth are broken.

I bought Roostick that is a wired method.

I can control my Roomba.

Because of this, I would conclude my Roomba isn’t broken.

Based on these facts, I think that the Rootooths and my Roomba are not broken.

But I can’t control My Roomba with the Rootooth.

The version of my Roomba is Roomba 577.

I am using a Dell desktop PC with Windows 7 (32bits) and a third-party bluetooh dongle attached to it.

I tried the Roombacomm, the Roombastatus and the SCI tester, but none of them worked.

Any help is really appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Can you describe the problem phenomenon (ie. what were you doing when “Roomba stopped abruptly” and what did you see then)?

It sounds like with the wired version, you are not having any problems - so either your rootooth is defective, or there is something that is causing it to have problems.

You might be having issues with other devices potentially connecting to your rootooth and taking precedence over your computer. So say if you connect to the rootooth with your computer, and then later on connect to it with your phone (when your computer is off), and then try at a later date to connect to it with your computer again (with your phone on, but say in your pocket) - you might not be able to connect to it with your computer.

More likely, your rootooth might just be setup wrong (wrong baud rate or something). I would highly recommend taking a look at this tutorial because its should go over the exact problems that you are having issues with:

Hope this helps!
