I think I got a bad Qwiic cable

I purchased a Qwiic alphanumeric display and cable to use with my Redboard Qwiic. My first attempt at the sample programs and one of my own worked well. After that I had intermittent results with more failures than successes. Examination of the connectors with a magnifier shows a possible bad connection to the VCC lead. Is there a way to test the cable or bypass wires to find the problem?

I am not sure about the pin size. Can you connect Male to female jumpers to the pins of the quiic connector? If you can, you can test the display separetely.
