I am experimenting with an ID-20. My goal is to get it to continuously read the presence of an ID card. Once the card is removed, a simple alarm will sound.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

I don’t think the ID-20 is going to work for your needs. It doesn’t have any outputs that continuously indicate that a card is present. The buzzer pin only produces a momentary output when the card is first detected. Even the CP (card present) pin only goes high during data transmission and this is only applicable to magnetic stripe emulation.
