Imorting PDF reference designs into EaglePCB

I want to make a PCB based off of a manf reference design, but all I have is a PDF of the traces/drill holes, and a schematic. Is there anyway to use either to start something in EaglePCB or do I just need to start from scratch?

Thanks

You should really start by doing the schematic, then the PCB.

Nope. You will need to start over from scratch.

We were just talking about this the other day!

I agree, it’d be awesome to be able to import a schematic as an image that you could put in the background with 25% opacity or as a watermark.

With Diptrace you can place a picture…but I’ve never used the function. I don’t know about Eagle or other software. I quit using Eagle about 2 years ago.

You can import an image like that onto its own layer with Pulsonix, and lay the tracks down over it on other layers. It’s better to start from scratch with a schematic, though.

You can also import a BMP into eagle - theres ULP program that’ll do that that comes with eagle. Convert the PDF to a black+white, indexed color BMP, and import that. Note that you’ll need to know the precise scaling in pixels/inch to get a useful import.
