INA169 Current Sensor

Is it feasible to use a higher value resistor (e.g., 100 Ohm) and/or an operational amplifier to measure microamp current levels with the INA169 ?

Hi MountainMan,

Theoretically, you could potentially measure microamps with the INA169 with proper values for both the shunt resistor and the load resistor along with some other factors. Also, it will depend on the range of current you are trying to measure. Unfortunately, we have not tested this breakout for anything below milliamps so we cannot say for certain whether or not this would be accurate enough for measuring microamps. For more information on how to properly set it up, I would recommend reading through the [datasheet, specifically the Operation section that starts on page 5.](https://cdn.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Sensors/Current/ina169.pdf)
