IOIO - Recording Voltage with a resistor and Amps same time

Not that great on all this electronics/electrics stuff.

Know the very basics but it’s normally programming (and motorcycles :stuck_out_tongue: ) that’s my forte!

I’m looking to use an IOIO to work out the power and Amps of a charging circuit and thus know the watts going in (and out for discharging).

I’ve got a 30A current sensor.

I also need to measure the voltage, which shouldn’t be over 30v.

So; I need to reduce the voltage.

Can I do this with resistors, or will that cause problems for the rest of the circuit?

If that won’t work, what solution should I be look too? (I note you can get specific voltage sensor modules with higher voltages.)

On closer inspection - the boards sold for ‘voltage sensing’ are just basic resistors.

Something like 'https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10643 (AttoPilot Voltage and Current Sense Breakout - 45A) seems to do what I want, but if it can be done with a couple of resistors to keep the cost down, that’d be better.

I was forgetting the basics - high resistance means minimal current/power draw, so, will have negligible impact on the rest of the circuit.
