Increasing range with nRF24L01 chip?

When I look at the different rf modules on Sparkfun, they have 1 that is 40m, 1 that is 80m, and 1 that is 280m!

I am really looking to get as much range out of the nordic chip as I can. The datasheet for the RF24L01 shows a single antenna…but I am looking at the LaiPac and it seems to use a loop antenna.

Does anybody have any example circuits to show this kind of antenna/system?

I keep doing searches for ‘high gain antenna circuits’ but don’t yield any good results.

Thanks

Shaun

If you look at the specs of the Laipac transceiver, it uses the nRF series. The 280 meters was line of sight, with just a few bytes sent. Depending on the number of bytes, the number of times you can resend and how directional you want the transmission, you can come pretty close. Traditionally, loops are not that efficient. A multi element yagi can be made out of PC board at 2.4 and give some amazing range, but it is directional. Try a google search for 2.4 gig pc board antennas.
