Infrared Detector SEN-19018, Infrared Emitter SEN-18772, with SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM (USB-C) WRL-20168

This is the parts I’m working with.

Infrared Detector SEN-19018
Infrared Emitter SEN-18772
SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM (USB-C) WRL-20168
Qwiic Boost SPX-17238
SparkFun Logic Level Converter - Bi-Directional BOB-12009 [RoHS]
220 Ohm resistor
10K Ohm resistor

I have had no success trying to make a IR break beam work at .75" apart work.
I have tried several configurations with this part list.

What I’ve tried is use the Qwiic Boost SPX-17238 to supply 5V to the Infrared Detector SEN-19018, Infrared Emitter SEN-18772 with a SparkFun Logic Level Converter - Bi-Directional BOB-12009 to communicate to analog pin GPIO36 on SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM (USB-C) WRL-20168.

Any help would be very appreciated
Thanks

If i recall correctly, the range on those sensors is really short. Do they work at 1/4" apart or closer? Also, try to minimize ambient light around the detector and see if they work then.

Got it to work here’s how.
+5V (via Qwiic Boost) ----> VCC (Emitter, Detector, HV on BOB-12009)
+3.3V (ESP32) ----> LV+ (BOB-12009)
GND (via Qwiic Boost) ----> GND (Emitter, Detector 10KΩ Resistor )

Infrared Emitter (SEN-18772):
220Ω Resistor ----> Series with VCC to emitter (limit current)

Infrared Detector (SEN-19018):
Collector (Pin 2) ----> HV GND Side of BOB-12009
LV GND Side of BOB-12009 ----> GPIO 36 (ESP32)
10KΩ Resistor Collector (Pin 2) ----> GND (via Qwiic Boost) Series with GND to emitter
