I recently purchased the SparkFun RTK Facet after hearing great recommendations about the product.
As a complete beginner in the RTK field, there are many things I’m still unfamiliar with, so I wanted to reach out with a few questions.
Currently, I would like to know how to view or check the RTCM data on the RTK Facet device.
I’d really appreciate it if you could kindly explain the settings or steps needed to access this data.
It would be very helpful if the explanation could be provided in a way that’s easy for beginners to understand.
RTCM messages are binary format and contain information about or corrections for the GNSS signals. They are not human-readable. Typically, the RTK Base outputs RTCM messages and the RTK Rover receives them. You can also pass the messages through an NTRIP Caster, like RTK2go. The format of the messages is defined in RTCM STANDARD 10403. 10403.4 is the latest version. It’s a copyright document, you need to purchase it to study the content.
On the Facet, the messages can be transferred over the “Radio” port (UART signals on a JST connector). But, more usually, they are transferred over WiFi or Bluetooth.
The ZED-F9P in the Facet can output other binary messages about what corrections are being used. If you are using RTK2go, you can view the Caster Status Report for your Mount Point and see what correction messages are being received and how many users are connected.
