is PPS included in the NMEA messages?

Hi,

I am really interested in getting one of your RTK GNSS devices. The potential dealbreaker would be that I cannot tell whether or not any of the devices output PPS (pulse per second) information in the NMEA messages. I can see that at least one devices has an indicator LED for PPS, which is promising. But I can’t find anything else in the specs.

If you can advise, I sure would appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi,

Can you please explain a little more?

Pulse Per Second (PPS) is an output pin which pulses high/low - usually once per second - usually aligned with the Top Of Second.

I don’t really understand how you could include that pulse in a NMEA message?

Unless you want to know what rate etc. the PPS pin has been set to? If that’s what you want to know, then you would do that through u-blox UBX CFG (config) binary message. Not NMEA.

Best wishes,

Paul

Sorry, I mis-spoke.

I would like to know which, if any of your RTK products, includes a pin for PPS, ideally 3.3–5V.

thanks.

Ah. OK. That’s easy… All of them provide a 3.3V PPS output.

The stand-alone RTK breakout boards, like the ZED-F9P GPS-RTK-SMA, all have a 3.3V PPS breakout pin:

There are some examples in the GNSS Arduino Library which show how to configure the PPS (Time Pulse) pin to output different signals:

The cased RTK products, like the RTK Surveyor, all have a “Radio” port which can be configured to output PPS:

I hope this helps,
