Is the VCNL4040 eye safe

Is the VCNL4040 eye safe? I didn’t see anything in the spec sheet. I’m looking for a Radiant Intensity vs Forward Current chart. I found this limit,

In the case of full IR-A spectral band (700-1400 nm), the standard suggests that irradiance at or below 0.96 mW/cm^2 is safe for continuous exposure of a duration slightly greater than 8 hours.

in this paper [ IR reflection hazards paper ](http://wjamesmaclean.net/Papers/cmbes89-Frecker-hazards.pdf)

Hello PAS,

I can’t seem to find any documentation available to us to guarantee the eye safety levels of the VCNL4040 IC. I would suggest reaching out to Vishay Support for more detailed information.

Short answer, the VCNL4040 is eye safe.

Long answer, can be found on the last page of this pdf [ Vishay Eye Saftey](http://www.vishay.com/docs/81935/eyesafe.pdf)

Thank you so much for sharing that. Great catch!
