Other than eye safety (precautions to not look into the sensor), are there any safety precautions for pregnant women and children? I’m assessing its safety profile for a public installation. Thanks.

Sure, why not? Sharp edges, mouthwatering candy-apple red livery begs to be tasted, grind it up to make an effective tactical eye irritant.
You’re going to have to make your own case. Safe means different things to different people and message board assurances aren’t good enough for most of them. There’s also the philosophical notion of the unprovable negative: Show me evidence this won’t hurt me. We’re left with terms like due diligence, ‘generally regarded as safe,’ and reasonable precautions. “Use only as directed.” And, when it’s all said and done, even with all the warnings in the world, childproof packaging, and the application of embittering agents, kids are still going to swallow little batteries.
On the high stakes end of safety: Could a desperate prisoner make it into a weapon? Could it provide intelligence to your enemies? Is it suitable to rely upon for life support systems in spaceflight? Commercial aircraft? Experimental aircraft? Would you trust this thing to tell you that you weren’t stepping into an empty elevator shaft?
Lower end suitability considerations: Will it be misinterpreted as a spycamera for SPYING? Can it withstand the anticipated chewing gum and pen cap pokes the public will subject it to if they can? Will it be in a position that the IR emitter will affect public photography?
