I would like to install Weather Meter SEN-08942 station but the place where it will work is exposed to tropical temperatures almost all year. The plastic with which this station is built supports UV solar radiation for prolonged periods? Thanks.
Hi geckotronic,
Unfortunately, we do not have any specific information on the material of the plastic and hard data on its resistance to UV radiation. You could try contacting the manufacturer, Argent Data Systems, to see if they have that information publicly available.
That said, we had a weather station using these weather meters on the roof of our headquarters here in Colorado for several years and had no problems that I am aware of caused by UV radiation so I do not think UV radiation in a tropical environment would be something to be concerned about. If you are concerned and want to take extra steps to protect the weather meters, there are special paints/clear coats that protect surfaces from UV radiation. A quick search for “UV protective paint” will probably turn up some helpful results.
