ISP pragrammer

i have a circuit (but i replace tiny12 with my tiny15)

http://www.riccibitti.com/tinyplanet/tiny_schematic.htm

is there any suggestion for me to program my tiny15??is serial dongle or parallel dongle suitable…i mean …cause less problem…because i build an parallel dongle that i found at lancos …but i can’t program it with ponyprog??[/img]

I’ve been tempted to call BS on the ISP schematics I’ve seen. None seem to work…and I can solder 20 pins. The only reason I have not called BS is that the Kanda STK dongle does work, and it has a 74HC245 with 3 external components.

I had a dongle working with my STK 200 (AT90S8515) but it did not work recently with my STK 300 (ATMega128.) If it starts working again, I’ll post the schematic with a parts list.

So…does anyone have a working dongle schematic? Please provide VERY specific data on the components (e.g., not “a diode”)

Thanks!

I use the $29 AVRISP which is probably only slightly more complicated than the 74hc245 setup. And probably just as reliable. I am on my 4th one in 4 months. Only one of them died because I dropped a 12 volt wire and it hit something on my circuit and fried my chip as well as my programmer. The rest died of unknown causes, they just stopped working.

I made up a board using this schematic, works extremely well…

I also use the $29 AVRISP (serial port on PC side). When I first used it, I hooked it up wrong and killed the firmware in it. I used AVRFreaks design note #10 to fix it. It’s a two page pdf that will get your dead AVRISP working again, unless you’ve damaged it. Their site has been down over the weekend avrfreaks.net

Also, if I’m ever in doubt as to which pins are which on the ten pin connector, I use the continuity tester on my $5 radioshack multimeter to find all the ground pins through the RS232 9-pin connector outer ground shield. From that reference I determine all the other SPI pins.
