KTA-223 Power 12V or 24V

From Ocean Controls website: https://oceancontrols.com.au/KTA-223.html

It indicates that the KTA-223 can now be powered from 12V or 24V.

I have a KTA-223 that I purchased last week from Sparkfun. The PCB says that it is a KTA-223v15

Do you know if V15 revision can be powered from 24V, or will it gurgle and smoke.

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks for your post Jim.

Unfortunately the only information I have available says 9-16 volts so I’d be hesitant to try 24. I would imagine in the future the units we carry would be good to 28 volts, but I don’t have any way of telling if the v15 PCB you have currently can do that. (We don’t know which revision the voltage change happened on)

You might try contacting Ocean Controls to see if there’s an easy way to tell. I would imagine they can tell you a revision number or what to look for inside the unit to determine what voltage range it’s made for. I have a contact page for Ocean of:

Hope this helps, and let us know what you find out.
