This module will not output the GPRMC sentence out of the box. My adafruit gps shield does not connect pins 1 and 3 of the module, which is the serial port used for configuration with Trimble’s software.
I tried some ugly soldering from the SMT 2x4 header to try to make it work, but I think the wires physically prevented the module from fully mating with the header.
Anybody have any advice? I think my only option is to buy the GPS evaluation board sold on here for $39.95. However, I read there are difficulties getting it to work, and I’m not even sure if I have a computer with a serial port on it anymore (which means buying another adapter). Thoughts?
It would be super excellent customer service, hehe, if Sparkfun would let me ship it back and have someone configure it for me. Alas, I know that’s asking a lot.
