Just got one of those Lassen IQ modules from you, I have set the communcation alright with the USB eval board, and the computer can read the data in TSIP and NEMA format however I can not get a satellite signal. I am using a postion from which I know there is a signal my Garmin 25-LVC can pick up a signal from this point but the Larrsen can not. I have not seen any data from a satellite since getting it, just GSGGA and GSVTG NEMA sentences with no data and have tried the device in numerous postions.
Yes I am using an antenna the Ultra-Compact Embedded Antenna for Lassen IQ with Hi-Rose connector on the end, funny thing though when I remove the antenna IQ_monitor says that the antenna is open but the satellites light up green and the AMU figues change but I cant get any lock for position,
I dont know could be that the antenna is broken or the front end reciever on the GPS itself is broken I am not sure. Doing final year college project so I am going back to the Garmin 25-LVC for the moment as time is running out and deadline is approaching.
We’ve actually received a report from a customer who had the mini antenna attached, but inadvertantly had it facing down. Be sure to have the mini antenna facing up. The SMD connector on the Mini-Antenna is oriented in such a way that the atenna can be plugged in, then looped around so it sits on top of the receiver facing up towards the sky. Secure with double stick tape.
Also, when all else fails, reset the unit to factory defaults. If you are seeing NMEA output sentences, then you know what comm settings the unit is expecting (9600bps 8-N-1 or 8-O-1). Open iq_monitor and set the com port settings to match. Then force a reset to manufacturer’s default settings. This should wipe the unit and let you start anew.
