LCD Connector

Most smaller LCDs have a single line of 14 to 16 holes along one side and to get these connected to a ribbon cable and so to an IDC connector is:

  1. Slow work.

  2. Complicated by often having to reverse pairs of the ribbon cable.

  3. Tricky to reinforce the soldered joint to withstand stress - silicon sometimes ‘fumes’ and stuffs up the LCD.

  4. The job looks amature.

How about a small ‘transition board’ that:

  1. Takes a header strip 14 to 16 pins long - these plug into the LCD.

  2. Has a patching area to swap connections around.

  3. Has a 2X5 header socket for an IDC connector.

  4. Maybe a LED to show power is on.
